Sofia Vergara named highest-paid TV actress

In a face-off with Kim Kardashian over who's made the most money as a U.S. TV actress in the past year, it's Sofia Vergara for the win.

Forbes magazine has named the "Modern Family" star and comedic fan favorite this year's highest-paid actress on the tube, thanks to her estimated earnings of $19 million between May 2011 and May 2012.

That total bumped Kardashian into second place with her estimated wealth of $18 million earned in that same time period.
But Kardashian's only trailing Vergara by a cool $1 million, and Forbes notes that she actually has a few things in common with the Emmy-nominated actress. They both have budget-friendly clothing lines with national retailers (Vergara's is available at Kmart, while Kardashian's is sold at Sears); both boast significant endorsement deals; and they're also both celebrity magazine cover darlings.
Not far behind Kardashian is Eva Longoria, who's made an estimated $15 million between May 2011 and May 2012. Forbes points to a high per-episode salary for the former "Desperate Housewives" actress, who has also benefited from cookbook sales, small movie roles, two fragrances, and a selection of endorsement deals of her own.
Rounding out the top five are Bethenny Frankel with $12 million, and Kim's younger sister Khloe Kardashian Odom with $11 million, who's tied with the No. 6 entry on Forbes' list, Tina Fey.
To estimate the earnings for these actresses between May 2011 and 2012, Forbes calculated their upfront pay, residuals, endorsements and advertising work.

The Who plan US Tour, talk Olympics performance

The Who's Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend are taking "Quadrophenia" and other Who classics on the road for a U.S. tour this fall, but first plan what Daltrey calls a great finale for the Olympic Games in London.

"We have recorded a piece of music that is a fabulous ending for the Olympics ... and just shows the great music that has come out of this country. This country has put some fabulous music out into the world," Daltrey said Wednesday as he sat next to Townshend. Both are British.
The Who's Olympic performance will be a tuneup of sorts for their American tour, which kicks off Nov. 1 in Sunrise, Fla., and will end in Providence, R.I., on Feb. 26.
The last time they toured the United States was in 2008.
During a wide-ranging video conference, during which they took questions that were sent in ahead of time, the surviving members of the legendary band were asked if they were planning to use holograms, like Dr. Dre did to lifelike effect with the image of Tupac Shakur at Coachella in April, for the late members Keith Moon and John Entwistle.
"I thought about it but everybody is doing it now," said Daltrey. "I don't know whether we need it. And it's only a gimmick. We were very good on gimmicks in the (19)70s but I think we can leave it alone now."
He also said the band did not plan to have guest singers as they did on their previous tour.
The double album "Quadrophenia," released in 1973, was the Who's second acclaimed rock opera ("Tommy" being the first). Written by Townshend, Daltrey called it "Pete's pinnacle."
The band will play the album in its entirety. A documentary about the making of the album, "The Who: Quadrophenia — Can You See the Real Me?" will be shown July 24 in theaters across the country.
The London Olympics start July 27 and run until Aug. 12.
Their Olympic gig will put them on an even bigger stage than their halftime performance at the Super Bowl in 2010. Daltrey said the closing performance "is not about The Who being on a TV show, it's about making great music that is apropos to the end of that event. ... I'm extremely proud of it."
Townshend also said he is working on new music. However, he added: "I don't know whether you can rubber-stamp it as Who music."

Prince Harry Attends Premiere of The Dark Knight Rises in London

He's giving Bruce Wayne a run for his money!

Prince Harry looked like a dashing superhero on the red carpet as he arrived for the London premiere of Christopher Nolan's new Batman movie, The Dark Knight Rises, in a fine-looking blue suit, white button-down shirt and black shoes. The only thing missing was his tie – and a cape!

Though he hasn't been seen in a bat suit, the Prince did recently don sleek body-boarding gear on a trip to Cornwall. He's also been known to wear various costumes – both silly and serious.

The film, which opens Friday in the U.S., stars Christian Bale, Anne Hathaway and Tom Hardy in major roles.

Provigil: The Secret Success Drug?

Those looking for a secret weapon to success have been turning to seeming power drug Provigil.
The drug originally meant to treat narcolepsy or sleep apnea helps users complete otherwise impossible tasks, everything from double full-length workouts to working endless hours on the computer.
John Withers, a computer programmer, said in an interview with ABC news that Provigil enables him to successfully write code for 12 hours at a time.
"It helps you focus up for exceptionally long periods of time," he said.
In the same interview with ABC News, Dave Asprey, executive of a billion-dollar Internet security firm, said he starts every day at 4:45 a.m. by taking a Provigil pill.
"[It] can be the difference between I'm just making it through the day to I had the best day of my life," Asprey told ABC News.
Provigil is already garnering comparisons to Adderall, another “power” drug that also gets frequently abused. Still, Provigil is even being touted as more powerful than Adderall, taking on the nickname “Viagra for the brain.”
Because Provigil is being increasingly abused, prescriptions for the drug are becoming increasingly harder to come across. Websites are popping up across the Internet promoting ways to coerce doctors to write a prescription for the drug or how to get it other ways.
Still, doctors are warning Provigil users to be cautious, as the drug could potentially be deathly. They are reporting no long-term studies have been done on Provigil and its effects on the brain. Doctors are warning the possible side effects of the drug include sleep deprivation and lethal rashes.
Prescription sales for Provigil have increased 73 percent in the past four years, nearly doubling sales, according to IMS Health.

Is There REALLY a Toy Story 4 & Finding Nemo 2 in the Works?

There is big news for Disney Pixar fans…well maybe. Really, it’s just big news about rumors.
According to new “reports” not only did a Finding Nemo 2 get the green light from Pixar but a Toy Story 4 did as well. But is there any truth to the rumors?
There has radio silence from the Walt Disney Company on the subject, with no statement, quotes or real releases to go by.  So where are these rumors coming from?
While many believe that Toy Story 3 had the perfect ending to the series, there is gossip (mostly on Twitter) that there is a number four is indeed in the works – this coming straight from Woody himself (well, Tom Hanks that is.) But that is actually old news, really, really old news from a BBC interview from June, 2011 where Hanks “leaked” the “news”. And it would seem to be pretty odd that they would develop a Toy Story 4 unless it was a prequel like the story of how Woody, Buzz and the gang were manufactured  marketing and sent to market. But my 6-year-old said that she “has a really, really big feeling there will be and it’ll be about Bonnie and the toys.” Adding that it’ll be “really, really, cool.” But that may just be her wishful thinking. She also wants a pony. But that ain’t gonna happen.
